In Thetford, America 250 goes village by village

THETFORD—From East Thetford to Rice’s Mills, the town of Thetford has eight distinct villages. At one time, each of these villages had its own post office, zip code, and a one-room schoolhouse. Still, an effort has to be made to bring the residents of the town to a centralized gathering. This year, a committee created in celebration of the semiquincentennial — or, to most of us, 250th — anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence is making sure to include every one of the villages into its festivities.This Saturday, Thetford 250 will be held 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Thetford Center.
