ORFORD—A long-delayed repair of a dreadful stretch of roadway should get underway next month. On July 27, the Orford Selectboard held a public hearing ahead of the first phase of improvements planned for a section of Archertown Road.

BRADFORD—Devil’s Den, a new shop selling cannabis products, recently opened on Main Street. The name is an homage to the Devil’s Den hiking area on Wright’s Mountain, and also references the old term “the devil’s lettuce” from the 1930s Reefer Madness era.

NEWBURY—A devastating fire on July 14 took the life of a Newbury man. James Lacount, 77, died after his home at 2464 Bowen Road in Newbury, near the Corinth town line, went up in flames.
