BMU preps budget plan

WELLS RIVER—A draft 2021-2022 Blue Mountain Union budget plan is down slightly from the current year. School board members received an early glimpse of the proposal during a regularly scheduled meeting on Dec. 2. They plan on holding two meetings next month to finalize a plan before sending it to voters.

BRADFORD—Voters narrowly rejected a 2020-2021 operating budget for the Oxbow Unified Union School District last week. Community volunteers in Piermont spent the weekend installing new playground equipment on the grounds of Piermont Village School. For a story in the Journal Opinion in 2023, organizers said the estimated project was $140,000. Although the playground is on campus, it is open to the public outside of regular school hours. A New Hampshire State Parks Land and Water Conservation Fund grant covered half the cost with financial donations, in-kind donations, and volunteer hours covering the rest.
