ORFORD—The Rivendell School Board has hired an engineering firm to conduct a visual inspection of the old Orford Academy building to assess its structural condition.

Fairlee voters to consider cannabis
FAIRLEE—On June 5, the Fairlee Selectboard signed the warning for a special town meeting on July 11 when voters will consider two separate articles, including one on whether to permit retail cannabis. Under the state law permitting retail sales of marijuana, towns must first authorize those sales before a permitted establishment can open for business.

Town hires new assistant
NEWBURY—The Newbury Selectboard has hired an administrative assistant for the first time. With her term expiring in 2024, longtime selectboard chair Alma Roystan, who has also served as administrator for the board, will not be seeking reelection.
